Shibashi

Shibashi Set 1

Shibashi set 1 is a beautiful, gentle, flowing Qigong exercise routine that is deeply relaxing and a joy to practise. It is designed to create balance and harmony in the body and mind, to improve general health and well being and to slow the aging process.

It is practiced by over 10 million people around the world and also taught in some parts of the NHS.

Shibashi translates from Chinese as eighteen postures and Shibashi set 1 combines elements from Yang style Tai Chi and breathing and movement exercises from Qigong.  It was created in 1979 by Professor Lin Hou Sheng, who is revered as a great master in China.

The 18 forms are repeated a number of times and flow gently from one to the other.  The complete set can be practised in 15 to 20 minutes making it a great set of forms to learn in class and then practise regularly at home to really start to see improvements in your overall health and wellbeing.

The movements in the sequence are great for improving circulation and digestion, strengthening breathing, strengthening the bones, reducing high blood pressure and easing conditions that are worsened by stress.

The integration of mind, body and breath provides a wonderful moving meditation.

The next Shibashi 1 Course is starting on Thursday 28th March from 11.30 to 12.30 in Isfield Village Hall.
